Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition with over 2000 years of history. It was introduced to the UK in the 1980’s and has become one of the fastest growing water activities in Britain – not to mention the most fun!
Dragon boat racing has become a popular fund raising event as it’s proven to not only offer a great day out to the local community, but raises thousands of pounds for worthy charities at the same time. It is also an excellent team building opportunity.
The event will consist of a racing competition between 36 teams from local businesses and organisations. Boats and safety equipment are provided, and absolutely no experience is needed.
All the teams will take part in various heats in a bid to be champions of the day, and winners will be rewarded with a trophy at the award ceremony which will end the day in style.
We have teamed up with Gable Events to host this event. They have over 15 years experience in running high profile events of this nature.
Gable Events is recognised as the market leader in the field of dragon boat racing event organisation and is the only commercial dragon boat event operator recognised and approved by the UK sports governing body, the British Dragon Boat Racing Association, and the international governing body, the IDBF.
